Failure is NOT an option

NEW SIERRA LEONEAN PRESIDENT SWORN-IN

At a little after five PM on Monday evening - 17TH SEPTEMBER 2007 - at State House, the Leader of the All Peoples Congress Party, Ernest Bai Koroma was sworn in as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, by the Honourable Chief Justice Dr Ade Renner-Thomas.

At the swearing-in ceremony was the former President, Dr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, the former Vice-President and Leader of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Solomon Berewa, supporter of both parties and members of the Diplomatic Corp among others.

As his first duty as President, His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma in turn swore-in the Vice-President, the Honourable Sam Sumana.

In his acceptance speech, the President thanked Dr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and the National Electoral Commission (NEC) for their work in assuring free and credible elections. He concluded by pledging a government of national unity stating, “failure is not an option.”
